Distributed Wind in Nova Scotia
The province of Nova Scotia has made it easier than ever to install a small wind turbine. In 2010, the Government of Nova Scotia introduced the Community Feed-in-Tariff (COMFIT). Through the COMFIT, a turbine owner receives 49.9 cents per kWh that they generate and put back on the grid, given they meet the requirements for the program.
COMFIT eligible groups include:
Community Economic Development Investment Funds (CEDIFs)
Co-operatives
Mi’kmaq band councils
Not-for-profit organizations
Universities
Municipalities
